The seepage and water system office (DID) says the waste framework couldn’t adapt after over two hours of downpour in Kuala Lumpur, bringing about the glimmer floods yesterday.
It couldn’t hold the overabundance water and manage the reverse issue, as indicated by the DID.
This occurred along a few principle streets in the downtown area after weighty precipitation was recorded, DID chief general Nasir Md Noh said.
“The water level of Sungai Gombak at Jalan Tun Razak and Sungai Batu in Sentul was accounted for to have surpassed the risk level of 32.45m and 34.03m, individually.
“These glimmer floods caused gridlock and harmed vehicles that became abandoned.
“In excess of 50 houses along Jalan Kasipillay, Jalan Batu Bata, Segambut Bahagia and Segambut Dalam were overwhelmed in 0.3m of water,” he was cited as saying by Harian Metro.
Streets impacted yesterday included Jalan Kuching, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim, Jalan Semantan, Jalan Segambut, Pintasan Segambut, Jalan Kinabalu (Bulatan Merdeka), Jalan Changkat Thambi Dollah, Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar, Jalan Travers, Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Bulatan Dato Onn, Jalan Maarof (Bangsar), and Jalan Merdeka.
Nasir said all flood control foundation under the Federal Territories DID were worked as per the division’s SOPs.
The Smart Mode 2 Diversion (for the SMART Tunnel) was enacted at 3.40pm, while the Keroh Diversion and Gombak Diversion channels were initiated at 3.50pm and 4.12pm, separately, to draw away abundance water.
“Occupants in low-lying regions are encouraged to be more careful and remain watchful during weighty downpour.
“Individuals from people in general are mentioned to be on aware of the sound of flood advance notice alarms and screen atmospheric conditions.
“Should weighty precipitation and elevated tide happen simultaneously, inhabitants must be prepared to move to more secure regions and follow the orders given by the specialists,” he added.
